After having worked for several houses, Pierre Salagnac has setting up his own business in Bourville in Normandy. For the opening of his studio, the journalist Sylvie Adiguard met him.
This is at the back of his garden, in an large space that the art bronzer presents his latest production: the Elan table, made of bronze for the base, in association with the researcher cabinetmaker Steven Leprizé who worked on the top. “The aim of this piece was to contrast a worked, polished and fluid bronze with a raw and natural wood”. Pierre wishes to transform his favorite material into a savoir-faire that transports us.
Described as a “craftsman 2.0” by Sylvie Adiguard, the art bronzer represents this new generation of accessible craftsmen, active on the networks through his 14,800 followers on Instagram and his co-creation of The Craft Project podcast with Raphaëlle Le Baud.
The Fondation Rémy Cointreau helps Pierre in the acquisition of equipment for his new space, in order to take over his business and train young people.
The seat carpentry is the work of wood. It differs from other specialties related to wood (the ornamentalist, the cabinetmaker, etc.) by the techniques and the type of pieces the seat carpenter creates. More than a passion, this trade is Louis Monier’s reason of being.
This episode of l’Artisan du Mois is dedicated to Eve George, glass-blower and 2020 Laureate of the Fondation Rémy Cointreau.
