The year 2022 will soon come to an end! But not for the Eaux de Vies project initiated by Eve George, laureate of Fondation Rémy Cointreau, and Harmonie Begon. This project was born out of a deep desire to federate all glass specialists in France. Today, it is becoming more tangible.
This projet has been created after a meeting at Académie des Savoir-faire 2022 around the theme of glass. Two passionate, committed designers have joined their forces to face the problems related to their profession. Their objective is also to perpetuate their know-how with innovation and creativity.
Harmonie Begon is a designer and Eve George, a designer and a glassblower. Both have seized the context of 2022 proclaimed by the UN as the year of glass, to initiate a great mediation around this material. The idea is multiple. It takes into account the importance of the status of an object, between serial object or unique object; the importance of the creative process between design and realization and therefore the place of the designer and the craftsma in this process; and finally, a great mediation around the sector. Thus, the Eaux de Vies project takes shape “in order to allow all glassmakers to sign a collective work in a historical and institutional context”.
Eaux de Vies is a common glass service created by all professionals in the sector in France, without distinction of status. Thus, each craftsman specialised in glass can create an object. The realisation must follow specifications: to make a glass signed with the first name and surname, to realize with colorless glass or crystal, with a texture of “venitian ribs”. This texture will create a link between each piece of the service.
Following the collect, this historical service named Eaux de Vies will be exhibited at the MusVerre (Sars Poteries, 59). The exhibition will take place from December 1, 2022 to January 28, 2023.
