Jacques Loire, Master glassmaker, craftsman of the Fondation Rémy Cointreau passed away

Dean of the Fondation since 2019, Jacques Loire passed away at the age of 88 on Tuesday, June 29, 2021.

A great master of the art of stained glass in Chartres, in France and in the world, Jacques, with an international reputation, is the son of the founder Gabriel Loire, whom he succeeds in 1970. Jacques has passed on his passion for stained glass and the art of master glassmakers to his children and grandchildren.

Jacques Loire’s artwork is recognised in France and abroad. His creations of stained glass for Japan, Zimbabwe or Chile, as well as for the Carmel de Champhol, the church of Notre Dame de Pentecôte, in La Défense, and the church of Saint Denys in Vaucresson illustrate some examples of his huge talent.

His work and involvement earned him the title of Knight in the National Order of Merit in 1982, Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2001 and of the Legion of Honour in 2008, as well as the title of Master of Art in 2010.

All the members of the Board of Directors of the Fondation Rémy Cointreau send their sincere condolences to his family in this painful ordeal.
