Anaïs Jarnoux – Upholsterer and Leather Artisan

After graduating in upholstery and sheathing, Anaïs Jarnoux has worked for fourteen years at Maison Brazet. There, she has learnt to combine traditional techniques with design, an approach she values in her own workshop created in 2017.

Anaïs Jarnoux designs and creates upholstery and sheath-textile pieces for interior architects, decorators, designers and craftsmen. Her work covers the prototyping and production of unique and short series furniture, as well as the restoration of furniture from the 1930s to the 1980s. She adopts an innovative and creative approach for each project, always seeking the dialogue between materials and techniques.

Research and innovation

Anaïs Jarnoux aims to convey a contemporary and sustainable vision of craftsmanship. She promotes craft as a responsible way of production and consumption, and encourages young people to consider craft, the object and its function differently.

Transmission

Anaïs Jarnoux is committed to the transmission of her knowledge and has led several workshops for the “Manufacto – La Fabrique des Savoir-faire” program set up by the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès. She also took part in commissions on “the future of the upholsterer’s trade” for the Compagnons du Devoir, whose aim is to anticipate the needs and challenges of the trade. These commissions guarantee the quality of the courses for the durability of the know-how, offered by the association. In her workshop, she welcomes trainees and other craftsmen she trains on targeted projects. The idea is to carry out projects as a team, while passing on technical expertise.

Fondation Rémy Cointreau has supported Anaïs Jarnoux in 2020 for the acquisition of raw materials and tools.
