Grégoire Scalabre – Ceramic Sculptor

Grégoire Scalabre is a ceramics sculptor. He discovered ceramics in his school’s turning and modeling workshop at the age of ten. At sixteen, he began an apprenticeship at the Atelier du Sage in Dieulefit (France). He completed this training with a theoretical training at the Lycée de la Céramique de Longchamp. In 2002, he set up his own workshop, and in 2005, he founded the Arts et Techniques Céramiques school in Paris with Christophe Bonnard.

Research and innovation

Grégoire Scalabre draws his creative inspiration from architecture and design. He innovates both in his choice of techniques and in the realization of his creations. Indeed, in 2018, he worked around marble projection on ceramics, and the piece entitled Ultime métamorphose de Thétis testifies his mastery of his skills.

Transmission

Grégoire Scalabre founded the Arts et Techniques Céramiques school in 2005, where he trained students in CAP turning with a contemporary and comprehensive vision of his know-how. In 2015, he set up the Atelier céramique in Le Kremlin-Bicêtre, where courses and workshops in turning and modelling were provided. Finally, in 2018, he published the book “Céramique: répertoire de formes” with Eyrolles.

Fondation Rémy Cointreau has supported Grégoire Scalabre in 2019 in the acquisition of an oven enabling him to develop his research around the marble surface process and mineral coating on ceramics.
