Manon Bouvier – Straw marquetry

Manon Bouvier is specialized in straw marquetery. After a CAP in cabinetmaking she graduated from Ecole Boulle in 2014 and continued her training at Atelier Maonia. In 2016, she set up Atelier Paelis located in Lyon. There, she carries out commissions for interior designers, luxury brands and private individuals, in France and abroad (USA, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, London …).

In 2019, she received the title of Meilleur Ouvrier de France and became the third craftswoman in straw marquetery to be rewarded.

Research and innovation

Manon Bouvier designs new motifs and innovates in her choice of colors. She brings a new dimension to the discipline, with original creations such as a folding screen featuring black rye straw and bamboo. This piece was created in collaboration with the designer Flavia de Laubadère.

Transmission

Manon Bouvier trains apprentices in her workshop. She has also been asked to become a tutor for young blind people in Clermont Ferrand, to explain the art of straw marquetry to them.

Fondation Rémy Cointreau has supported Manon Bouvier in 2021, helping her to fit out her workshop and acquire tools. The Foundation renewed its support in 2023 to strengthen Manon’s desire to pass on her skills by acquiring the equipment she needs to welcome and train new craftsmen.
