Maxime Perrolle – Woodturner

Île-de-France – 1990

Maxime Perrolle is a woodturner. He has obtained a cabinetmaking CAP in Moirans in the Jura region and has learnt woodturning at the Escoulen school in 2016. Following his studies, he has set up in several shared workshops where he has made utilitarian objects. Today, he is based at JAD – Jardin des Métiers d’Art in Sèvres and focuses his work on the contemporary creation of unique turned or sculpted objects, for interior designers and luxury brands such as Cartier.

2019 – Prix de la Jeune Création d’Art, Ateliers d’Art de France.

2018 – Laureate of the Fondation Banque Populaire; Laureate of the Prix Jeunes Talents, Carrousel des Métiers d’Art et de la Création.

Research and innovation

Maxime Perrolle combines traditional techniques with contemporary design. He begins by selecting French oak, which he then carves, turns and sometimes even burns. On each piece, he plays with curves, textures, light, the tints created by fire and natural pigments. He draws his inspiration from nature, letting the wood live behind his masterful work.

Transmission

Maxime Perrolle gave classes to a public of amateurs between 2017 and 2018. Since moving to JAD, he has been welcoming trainees and apprentices to his workshop. In this way, he hopes to ensure the future of arts and crafts, of the handmade, and above all, of apprenticeships in workshop.

Maxime Perrolle was supported by the Fondation Rémy Cointreau in 2023 to pursue his missions of transmission and his objectives of large-format creation. The support enabled him to acquire a high-performance, precise band saw that complies with safety standards.
