Ulysse Lacoste works with metal to create monumental works in motion. Part craftsman, part engineer, each piece is made according to balance and gravitation. His creative technique is a progression towards the monumental. He begins by creating a sketch, then a prototype, first on a hand-scale, then on a very large scale. The metal he uses comes from recycling chains, and his offcuts are all stored and then reassembled into new creations.
Ulysse Lacoste is keen to pass on his knowledge. He has moved into a new workshop to produce large-format pieces, but above all to welcome trainees. Thanks to this large surface area, he has set up workshops and residencies, an exhibition space, a living area and a vegetable garden. In addition, he aims to establish a local presence in the Côte d’Or region through collaborations with associations and school projects.
Fondation Rémy Cointreau has supported Ulysse Lacoste in 2022 with the purchase of a handling machine. This enables him to handle his monumental pieces without injury.
